Alafzaar 8

Alafzaar | فیلم علفزار

Alafzaar : is an Iranian drama and crime film, written and directed by Kazem Daneshi and produced by Bahram Radan. The film, released in 2021, participated in the 40th Fajr Film Festival in the Simorgh Prize section. It received nominations in 13 categories and won four awards for Best Sound Mixing, Best Editing, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Screenplay.

The story is inspired by a real-life incident involving a group assault during a family gathering in Khomeinishahr, Isfahan, in 2011. Six men illegally enter a family ceremony, imprison the men, and assault the women. The investigating officer faces obstacles when the prosecutor, influenced by the city council, prevents a fair investigation because his family members were victims in the incident. The only bride in the family, whose husband is in a coma after the incident, pursues justice relentlessly, even in the face of threats.

The film features a cast including Pejman Jamshidi, Sara Bahrami, Setareh Pesyani, Turlan Parvaneh, and others. The title "Alafzar," meaning a weed-infested area, metaphorically depicts the Iranian society portrayed in the film as a place filled with social abnormalities.
